Living the (poker) dream

I recently read about a cool, new Web site that helps poker lovers like me find casinos worth visiting all over the country. The casino review system on the site is not just based on a player’s experience, but a list of questions to determine the type of action and rules to help determine if it’s a casino worth visiting for what you want.

After dropping them a couple suggestions (including beefing up the Oklahoma casinos section), I thought I’d toss it to my few (beloved) poker readers out there so you, too, can add your own thoughts to their Web site.

And, though still being developed, ThePokerAtlas.com will have integrated maps to guide players to the nearest games in an area, with user and editorial reviews, poker room submissions and ultimately poker room manager tools providing up to date live action information, tournament schedules and promotions. Pretty sweet, eh.

For the non-poker players, you might just be interested in what the creators of this site are doing. Brian Easterling and Leigh Wetzel are a poker playing couple that have hit the road in a 1963 Airstream trailer to play as much poker as they want all over the country. The airstream a.k.a. “The Flying Cloud” is equipped with a satellite dish for internet access so they are able to play both online and live games.

Bluff Magazine (under "Born to be Wild" header) featured the couple as well as their hound Curtis twice. You can follow them on their journey (458 days strong) on a pictorial travel blog. There are some great photos and interesting tales of their travels so far.

N: I just started playing online. I've had one big win ($780) and a series of final tables but nothing much more.

But I'm working on it...

N: I play at fulltilt so far, but I probably will get into other sites as they only have a couple evening tournaments in my price range.

Yeah, I won $780 in a tournament a couple weeks ago. I had several big hands and got a little lucky.

What sites do you recommend?

I play pokerroom.com, but it's kinda rigged so I don't like it. Bodog.com is good, as the tourneys are like 4+.40 as the low. I don't know what range you're looking for.

Fulltilt is good though?

I've been trying to limit myself to 24+2 or 10+1 tournaments, and usually there are only a couple in the evenings on fulltilt. I might check out bodog though.

And yeah, I like fulltilt. Pretty good players and decent action.

what's your onscreen name? I'll try to find you in a tourney sometime. Unless you have AIM/MSN/Yahoo and then we can get in a tourney and crush.

I used to do that with a friend. Talk about our cards and take over tables. Like signalling but easier. lol

Where do you like to play live? AC, Vegas, home games?

Oh yea. you're just starting, right?
