Welome to Washington, D.C.

My brother is coming into town tomorrow. The only time he has ever flown was when my cousin married a girl from Paris, and we went to the wedding. He has never been to the east coast (unless you count Florida).

I am a little befuddled as to what we should do. I’ve made a checklist, and feel free to add other ideas (note: if it’s not in the District, we probably ain’t doin it)

A little context: He is a good ol boy from Okalahoma. He’s just turned 21 and likes to drink almost as much as his older sister. He is easy going—has probably never met anyone gay (hello, I live in DUPONT)— and he is up for anything as long as it involves a drink (and not before 3:00 p.m.)

1. See the monuments
2. Do shots at McFaddens
3. Eat at al Tiramisu
4. Have Baltica at Russia House
5. See Air and Space Museum
6. Go to big, nasty club (not Nation)
7. Try sushi (he’ll hate it)
8. Do a body shot off an intern (tough to swing in the off season, but I think we can find one)
9. Have fried green tomatoes at Georgia Brown’s
10. Hook up with Jessica Cutler *pictured above* (I just read her book, she's even easier than you think)
11. Smoke a cigar at Republican dinner spot (Capital Grill?)
12. Have a half smoke at Ben’s Chili Bowl
13. Take funny photo outside white house for his facebook profile
14. Eat pizza wasted in Adams Morgan
15. Get drunk and almost hit some popped collar fuck in Georgetown
16. Discuss the physical attributes of girls in DC vs. OSU girls
17. Ridding the metro wasted and trying not to puke
18. Have a pitcher at Stetson’s and smoke a hookah at Chi-Cha
19. Show him what hipsters are (maybe go to Wonderland?)
20. Do as many Stoli Doli shots as possible
21. Go to DC strip club with my many expert friends
22. Sing Garth Brooks hit at Cafe Japonais

I'd include a run to Cap Hill area--either Penn SE or Barracks Row on 8th ST SE. Might have a shot at interns at the Cap Lounge.

I also recommend the cheap Indian food at Amma's in G'town. (Don't let the vegetarian aspect deter you--it's excellent.)

For good food and alcohol, he shouldn't miss Jaleo's. That area is pretty hopping these days too.

Have fun!

Thanks, you're right. Cap Hill fun is essential to his DC experience. And, Indian food (dot not feather) is a great idea!

Hi Kyle: Yes, I just read it, and I didn't like it. I really, really wanted to like it, but I didn't. I'm working on writing a review, I'll probably post it sometime this week.

Haha that sounds like a fun list...I want to play. Maybe I should take that as my "things to do in DC before I leave" list...

JC has made a resurgence. I think I'm going to borrow the idea for my next post.

Have fun with your brother!

about the jc book - maybe you had trouble with the book because you wanted to be on her side - i didn't have trouble with it all - in fact i think i read it in two sittings - it was so outrageous that i couldn't stop laughing. it was a real eye-opener that there are people out there who think like she does. she did win my sympathy after she got fired. it was not boring at all because it was so shocking.

Chase, you come along anytime :)

Kyle: I know where you are coming from, but I didn't like it for very different reasons than you are thinking...more soon

I'd just add one thing: you and you brother should both urinate on my back patio on Calvert Street before taking the Metro back to NOVA. That'll fully complete his DC experience.

Views from an Okie- Trust me... he has scene gay people. But I would definetly show him the indoor plumbing and elevators. Us Okies really like dem elevators. Although the escalator coming out of the metro freaked me the hell out.

Lonnie: Thanks, I'm not sure why we would EVER go to NOVA, but if we do I'll keep that in mind.

Big JC: Well, my okie darling, I will keep the indoor plumbing in mind.
