Prove it.

A friend from my college days that I worked with on a race in Kansas is leaving town on Sunday. He has been here all summer and for various reasons we have yet to meet up.

Anyway, tonight is the night and in previous conversations with him, I have learned that DC has not really been very much fun for him this summer. The easiest answer to this is because he has been living in the burbs and working at a law firm in the burbs.

So I’ve got one night to show him how fun Washington, D.C. really can be (Oh, the pressure). I have enlisted the help of Girl in DC and made the call to several others.

The plan so far is probably dinner in Dupont, drinks on U Street (maybe Local 16) and then when we are sufficiently tipsy, off to Adams Morgan (Maybe Madam’s Organ or Reef).

It’s raining. Less people.
Where to eat in Dupont?
Local may be dead early, which is okay as we are just there to get the wheels greased to hit AM
We’re going to Adam’s Morgan—high risk but high reward.

Please offer any advice for a fun night in DC that gives a person a sense of the fun this city can be.

Ha ha...I won't make any promises...except that I will not be drinking seven lemon drom martinis.

How about just eating at Local 16 while your getting things going? That way if it's dead there early, it won't matter cause you'll just be doing dinner and light drinks. I had dinner there last night around 6:00ish and it was very, very yummy! Highly recommend it.

Take him to see the March of the Penguins playing in Bethesda and treat him to a bucket of popcorn and plenty of pop.

It is supposed to stop raining, so people may come out.

I would advise against eating at all. It tends to slow things down. Maybe a bowl of Ramen before pre-going-out nap.

Bridget: Excellent idea, I love their food, too.

Catcaio: Good idea but I've already seen it and it might be weird sneaking in 40s around kids.

Lass: Thanks, let's hope so

The Boy: You're a true blue drinker and i like that...however, i am limiting myself to one black per week (and wednesday was a good one)

Sushi fan? Dragonfly has great sushi, fab martinis, and odd ambiance. Not my favorite "bar" and certainly not where I'd want to pick someone up, but a great place to go with a group and not talk to anyone else.

and V, I hoped you liked my little blurb about you on my blog today

You are cool from your toes to your nose and wear your blackouts like a badge of honor...a good thing now and then

K: Good idea, not sure how the Kansas fellow feels about sushi, but I'll check on it...of course you are more than invited for the festivities.

Catciao: Thanks for the nice words, meow!

How about eating at Lauriol Plaza first? I know it's usually uber-crowded, but the food is good and you could stay for drinks and then go to AM from there.

I take first time DCers to Mie & Yu for drinks...Zola for treats...then move onto a lounge late night? A nice french bistro always works wonders too.
